MI - Casting Melt Associate

Job Title:  Casting Melt Associate, Hourly

Position Summary

  • Operate induction furnaces to produce molten metal to be poured.
  • Operate overhead cranes, to load materials and move ladles of molten iron.
  • Operate hand-controlled & auto-pour mechanisms to pour and regulate the flow of molten metal into molds to produce castings.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to work with molten metal in a hot environment and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Pour and regulate the flow of molten metal into molds to produce castings, using vessels or hand-controlled mechanisms.
  • Position equipment such as ladles, pouring nozzles, or signal other workers to position equipment.
  • Skim slag or remove excess metal from equipment using hand tools.

Education

  • High School graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience

  • No prior experience necessary

Computer Skills

  • Will train if necessary

Certificates & Licenses

  • Will train if necessary

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to high temperatures.  The associate occasionally will be exposed to vibration.  The associate regularly works near moving mechanical parts with repetitive motions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, and dust levels may be high.
